Blink 182

Sometimes folks laugh when I confess
that I used to think that band Blink 182 was the best.

I still like them a lot, don't get me wrong,
and of course still know the words to every song!

But there was a time I felt they conveyed
the secret of men - from kids to old age!

Their punk pop rock ways left me in a daze
as we entered a whole new world to contemplate.

Reasons were given in their music and words
about how each man longs to be heard!

Or so I thought at the time, I guess I was reaching
(or maybe just really in need of some teaching.)

Beauty Revival

I never know if its hot outside
(though it usually is.)

It's mostly shadows where I live
(no sun a-dancin'.)

Except for an hour in the afternoon
When angels smile at me

They let golden rays tumble on in;
And I'm revived by the beauty!

Really Good Start

Double speed on an hour long day
I really hope everything will be okay

I try to do what I can as quickly as possible
Hopefully success is at least somewhat plausible

My thoughts overwhelm me, but I must stay focused
I am so annoyed that I always let it come down to this

Everything will be better, I feel it in my heart
This is all just the beginning of a really good start

My Liege #2

We spend time in the California sunshine.
The weather is so lovely - in fact, it's divine!

We lay on the beach and walk in the park,
Sometimes we even stay out after dark!

We are good kids and we do fun things,
Like eat tasty foods and dance and sing.

The hours while away when we are together.
Even when we're out in cold n windy weather.

I look out for you as you look out for me;
It's so nice to exist so harmoniously!

Low Flying Fruit

At a surprise empty beach on a springtime weekday
(We forgot the blanket and water but it will be okay.)

The albatross soars high above us, teasing tiny seagulls
We laugh at them as we say, "Who wouldn't want to be us?"

As the planes fly low, so close over our heads,
We forget about every bad thing anyone ever said.

I squeal with joy and insist we change places,
So you can see the planes, try to make out the faces

Of all the travelers in the tiny windows
They're flying straight through the sun, right around a rainbow!

More chips and salsa please. I've made us turkey sandwiches.
Shall we play Uno or Kings in the Corner? Such frivolously simple choices!

We'll cast our own nets and sail out to the sun one day,
And smile at the kind sunshine as our troubles float away.

The Right Kind of Coffee

Perfectly roasted beans all ground up,
Brewed quite properly with love and such,

In a little white Christmas Starbucks mug,
Feels to me every morning like a big bear hug.

A hug from an expert, of course, not someone on the street
Maybe we were waiting for lattes and we'd accidentally meet

"My beverage must include Grade A ingredients," you'd say,
"They should know this, I come here every day!"

"Don't worry new friend," I say, in attempt to comfort
"Just ask them when you order, that can't hurt."

"Of course, how silly and shortsighted I've been!
You know, I could see you as my friend."

"Yes!" I exclaim, so excited by the thought
of whiling away hours with clever coffee talk.

So we sat at the table with our hot drinks in tow,
And even hours from then, I still wouldn't know

Really how funny and kind you would be.
Thus, a well-brewed friendship begins with you and me!

Website? Alright.

HTML 5 has really changed my perspective
and made my design sense much more selective
about arrangements and fonts and colors and such -
no need for loathsome programming, just use your artist's touch!

With such ease and flow do I drag and drop things around.
New functionalities often seem to be found
with the click of the mouse
or the clack of a key -
I am building something awesome so effortlessly!

I want to shout from the rooftops, "There is a new way!
You can make a whole website in just under a day!"
Slideshows and galleries and interactive features
for little leagues, nail salons, and Spanish teachers!

Create your very own site and make it just right -
use wix.com and you could be done by tonight!
Start with a template, its easy as pie.
You'll be wrapped in a snap and kiss that project goodbye!

Once you reap the rewards of a most excellent web presence,
folks will offer you theatre tickets (or work) with no reticence!
Finally you'll see how the "other half" may be
as a result of the intense utilization and astounding powers of HTML 5!

Groundhogs

Groundhogs are just hogs that live in the ground.
(the thought of that makes me laugh out loud)

With their neckless stature and sketchy nature,
They seem quite infantile and not at all mature.

Sloths, however, are like rich old men,
Rolling around all day in a swamp of gin.

Until they're disturbed by their lady friends
Who say, "It's been long enough, its time to come in!"

Then they nestle together under a sky full of stars
Far away from the nervous city and smelly cars.

And they giggle at the groundhogs who wish they were bigger,
Because nothing is better than being a sloth - go figure!

But as the laughter dies down, sometimes they say
Maybe they would try being a groundhog for just one day.

I Already Know

Oh, don't even try to tell me about poetry.
I know it's not most folks' most favorite thing to read.

Words in a jumble and rhymes and such
Maybe you'll find meaning if you've any luck.

If you don't have luck, you could get stuck
On a stanza who don't understand ya and then, "Oh f*ck!"

You feel like a dolt for not really getting it,
Then try to cover it up by not admitting it.

Everyone can tell,
You've totally broken the spell
Cast by those words hanging around the atmosphere!
